The importance of cookies for the website visitor
Improving your experience on our website is the main reason why we use cookies. Accepting all cookies from our site significantly increases the quality of the content seen by the visitor. Without these cookies, parts of our website will not be available.
Cookies allow us to remember the settings and preferences of visitors. This facilitates the adaptation of the content available to the visitor, each time he returns to the site. Accepting cookies significantly contributes to the ease with which you will find the information you are looking for. Through cookies we can recognize and count visitors. Thus, we can generate statistical reports related to how our website is used. Cookies also help us measure the performance of our advertising campaigns. We use the information collected through cookies to improve and optimize the content of the site for visitors.
What are cookies and what are they used for?
Cookies are small files, which are generated by a web server or a web browser (eg: Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer, Edge, etc.) to be stored in the volatile and/or non-volatile memory of a user’s computer, phone, tablet or other equipment from which the website is accessed. The cookie does not contain viruses, spyware or malware. Cookies do not contain code that can be executed or auto-executed on the visitor’s terminals.
Cookies are everywhere and, if you want to browse the Internet, most sites use cookies. Cookies make it possible to identify the user’s terminal, the type of web-browser used, the relevant browser settings for cookies (such as Do Not Track) and other information such as the IP address (if applicable), area and country from which the content is accessed, frequency of access and others.
The purpose of using this information collected through cookies is to present the content in a relevant way, adapted to the user’s preferences (language, format, etc.) and to remember the user’s options every time he returns to the site. At the same time, cookies can be used to create statistics and to display relevant advertising content to the user.
From the point of view of necessity, cookies are divided into two categories:
- essential cookies – which ensure the proper functioning of the site and without which the site cannot function properly. These cookies must be accepted to navigate the website www.cropvance.ro and all related pages and subdomains.
- non-essential cookies – which help a lot in the operation and optimization of the site’s content by processing and adapting the information to the user. These cookies are not absolutely necessary for the site’s functionality.
Cookies can be classified in several ways depending on their origin:
- first party cookies – cookies generated and used only by the visited website. Most of the time, these cookies are essential cookies.
- third party cookies – cookies which originate from outside the site, holding information we cannot control. Most of the time such cookies are non-essential. A type of third party cookie often used is the Google Analytics cookie. The data collected through these cookies and the purpose in which these data can be used is not controlled by the site. See the Privacy Policy for Google Analytics.
Depending on the duration of validity, the cookies are:
- session cookies – cookies that have short validity, they expire when you close the web-browser.
- persistent cookies – files that remain stored on your terminal for a longer period (but not indefinitely). They expire automatically, when they reach the limit of the validity period, or they can be deleted manually.
Depending on the purpose for which they are used, the cookies are:
- required for site functionality – cookies without which you cannot navigate the site. Among other things, they maintain the security and integrity of the visitor’s session.
- for memorizing preferences – the cookies through which the visitor’s options regarding language, region, etc are memorized. They are also used for the auto-completion functions, for example completing your user name when you return to the page.
- statistics – cookies that collect anonymous data usually used to optimize the site and content.
- used for marketing purposes – cookies that are used to identify visitors in their navigation on different sites. These are intended to provide relevant advertising to each individual user, depending on his preferences in the past.
